Obituary for Jeanne Braun

JEANNE R. (ARMSTRONG) BRAUN, fondly known as “Señora Braun”, 92, of Springfield, passed away in her daughter’s home, surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 18, 2018. She was born in Springfield on January 29, 1925, the daughter of the late James Ervin and Myrtle Agnes (Corbett) Armstrong. Jeanne was a 1942 graduate of Springfield High School and a 1946 graduate of Wittenberg University where she was one of their first women cheerleaders. Her teaching career began at Springfield High School (later Springfield South High School), where she retired in 1982, following 25 years of teaching Spanish. Jeanne swam a mile for diabetes for 30 years and at age 92, she raised over $2,000 for diabetes research. She volunteered in the dining room at Forest Glen for several years. Jeanne was a founding member of the Alpha Delta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie (Dave) Williams of Springfield; three grandchildren, Brad (Sarah) Coy, Brian (Kathie) Coy and Heather (Rob) Hart; eight great grandchildren, Megan, Matthew and Max Coy, Cody Williams, August Argy, Cole Coy, Alexandra Coy, and John Inman III; and a great-great granddaughter, Payton Inman-Scott. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, Jim Braun (Kirk Lawson) and Robert (Nancy) Braun; sister-in-law, Carol Ann (Sturg) Sturgill; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Braun in 2014; two sisters, Martha “Toady” McDaniel and Audrey Waters; a brother, Bruce Armstrong; a grandson, James David Coy; and several nieces and nephews. Jeanne donated her body to the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the club house at Forest Glen. Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Glen, 2150 Montego Dr., Springfield, OH 45503, the Central Ohio Diabetes Association, 1100 Dennison Ave., Columbus, OH 43201, or your favorite charity.
