Obituary for Alexander Winston Cole Knowlton, Sr.

Alexander Winston Cole Knowlton, Sr., 45, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Sunday, October 29.  He was born June 5, 1972, in Dayton, Ohio, to Norma Jean Cole Knowlton and Peter Michael Knowlton. The family moved to Springfield, Ohio when Alexander was ten. He was educated at Landmark College in Vermont and Ohio Wesleyan University.    Alexander worked in computer systems maintenance and network engineering for more than 20 years. He was currently employed as a Systems Engineer for Cincinnati Bell Technology Solutions, Inc. In addition, he ran an independent distribution business with associates throughout Ohio and Michigan. Alexander had many interests, including history, current affairs and sports. He was a member of the US Chess Federation. He was particularly interested in the history of the Civil War era, and loved to visit Civil War battlefields. He was known for generously using his computer skills to help others. Above all, he devoted his time and love to his family. He is survived by his wife, Soe Soe Myint Knowlton, and his three children, Alexander, Jr., Allison, and Andrew. He is also survived by his mother Norma, his mother-in-law Daw Kyi U Thaung of Maubin, Myanmar, his brother Christopher Knowlton and wife Sarah of Wakefield, RI, his sister Elizabeth Knowlton Koncki and husband Jeffrey of Columbia MD, his nephew, Levi M. Knowlton of RI, his Aunt P. Valerie Knowlton of Granvillle, OH, his Uncle Donald L. Cole of Avon, CT, and cousins and friends.

Family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday November 3 at LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, 830 N. Limestone St., Springfield. Friends are also invited to a short memorial service at High Street United Methodist Church, 230 E. High St., Springfield at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4th and to join family afterwards in the Church Commons. Contributions in Alexander’s memory may be made to Ohio’s Community Mercy Hospice online or by mail ℅ Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420, or made to High Street United Methodist Church.
