LOUIE “LUIGI” VIZZARI, 86, passed peacefully Saturday, November 3, 2018 following a lengthy battle with dementia. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosina Ann, 1 brother, Bruno Vizzari of Cleveland, 1 sister, Lucie Fazzini of Ft Lauderdale, FL, 2 daughters, Angela Recker (Nicholas) of Spring Hill, Tennessee, and Rosina Matthies(Kevin) of Springfield, 5 grandsons, Andrew Recker, Glendon Recker, Paul Recker, Tony Matthies(Brianna) & Louie Matthies. Luigi started his career in the Merchant Marines on the Great Lakes and promptly met his wife and moved to Springfield in 1965. He owned & operated Olympic Builders with his wife for over 38 years where he built over 100 homes, apartment buildings & office buildings, ultimately developing the Olympic Hills subdivision. During the day, he designed & built his homes and in the evenings, worked at International Harvester for 27 years in the Maintenance Dept., retiring from there in 1992. He retired from the building business in 2003. Luigi was known by many people in the community & affected their lives from his seriousness & dedication for building a quality home, to his funny sense of humor & wit. At Luigi’s request, there will be no visitation and his burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. The family wishes to express its gratitude for the wonderful care Luigi received from the staff at Forest Glen Health Campus & Kindred Hospice. The family is being served by the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home.
