Obituary for David Alan Driskill

DAVID ALAN DRISKILL, 52, of Springfield, passed away peacefully into the presence of his Savior, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday morning, January 3, 2019, following a six-year battle with colon cancer. He was born in Lima, Ohio on December 20, 1966, the son of Gary Dean and Leah (Hetrick) Driskill.

Throughout his life and working career, Dave was surrounded by so many wonderful communities-his family, Hardin Northern High School, Cedarville University, his church, Band of Brothers, Southeastern Schools where he taught and coached for 12 years, and the Shawnee Braves coaching staff/community for the past 18 years. He was in his 30th year of teaching, where he found his niche in his last role of teaching the gifted classes, grades 1-8.

Dave will be remembered for his faith, honesty, sense of humor, his ability to remember lyrics and songs to TV shows and movies, his love/hate for the Cleveland Browns, his motorcycles, and his passion for WWII memorabilia.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lori A. (Hamilton) Driskill; their three children, Kyla and her fiance’, Jaden Greenwood, Kassidy and Grant; his mother, Leah Driskill of Dola, Ohio; brother, Greg (Brenda) Driskill of Dunkirk; sister, Brenda (Wes) Broseke of Kenton; cousins, Mike (Tracy) Hetrick and Andy (Yvonne) James; and Lori’s family. Dave was a nephew, uncle and great uncle to many! He was preceded in death by his father; four children to miscarriage; and his college roommate who was like a brother, Terry Sharp.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday In Southgate Baptist Church. Dave’s funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the church with Pastor Bobby Hile presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, to honor Dave’s love for his children and to further their education, that contributions be made to the Dave Driskill Memorial Fund, c/o any Fifth Third Bank Branch or mail to Fifth Third Bank, 20 S. Tuttle Rd., Springfield, OH 45505.
