Obituary for Alwin J. Mangio

ALWIN J. MANGIO
It is with great sadness that the family of Alwin James Mangio announces his sudden passing, on Friday, September 21, 2018, at the age of 64, at his home in Spring Valley, Ohio.
Al is the son of Barbara and Charles Mangio, partner and best friend to Karen Erickson and her family (Jean, David (Donna), Austin, Ashlin and Matthew) , brother to Christina (Kevin) Kampman, Frank (Connie) Mangio, Barbara (John) Witt, Mary (Ron) Jackson, Regina Mangio and Angela Mangio, uncle to John Stritenberger and Jason (Heather) Stritenberger, Victoria and William Johnson, Jeff (Chaz Estell) and Christopher (Jay Kulpa) Kampman and Arion (Jenny), Anthony and Veronica Mangio and great uncle to Avery Baker and Hunter Stritenberger. Al’s father, Charles, preceded him in death. Al’s large family and friends loved him very much and will miss him always.
A native of Ohio, Al attended the University of Cincinnati, graduated with a degree in architecture and owned his own business. Many buildings in the Dayton area reflect his style and he worked with many governmental building departments in the Dayton area. He also taught at Sinclair College.
When you met Al, you would never forget his kind spirit, sense of humor and unbounded love for his family, friends, dogs and God. Al was so talented, so smart and a heck of a tennis player. It was important to him to serve God and others. He was active at church – he taught Sunday school, visited nursing homes and comforted those in need. Children especially loved Al.
A celebration of Al’s life will be held at Fairhaven Church, 637 E Whipp Rd, Centerville, on Tuesday, September 25th with viewing from 10 am to noon and memorial service beginning at noon. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. Please join Al’s family for dinner and fellowship at the Presidential Banquet Center, 4572 Presidential Way, Kettering, 45429.
Memorial donations in memory of Al can be made to SICSA, 2600 Wilmington Ave, Kettering, OH, 45419.
