Obituary

Nancy Katherine Parker, 83, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday January 18, 2017 in Springfield Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born July 26, 1933 in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of Harold R. and Marion C. (Covell) Knapp.

She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in psychology from Syracuse University. For many years Nancy served as the Executive Director of the Springfield Rotary Club's programs for handicapped children, including the annual Christmas party. She volunteered at the Literacy Center and served as board member and then President of Planned Parenthood of Clark County.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years, Robert W. Parker; daughter, Anne Shull of Shirley, Massachusetts; two sons, Steven (Deborah) Parker of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania and David (Maria Lizano) Parker of Kingston, Ontario; stepbrother, Blair (Charlotte) Knapp of Portland, Maine; four grandchildren, Jason, Robert, Wesley and Francesca Parker; sister-in-law, Pauline Wohn of North Ft. Myers, Florida; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Roscoe Knapp; sister, Janet Knapp; two stepbrothers, Bruce and Dwight Knapp; son-in-law, Ira Shull.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3 – 4 p.m. Monday February 20, 2017 in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where a celebration of Nancy's life will follow at 4 p.m.
