Obituary for William E. "Bill" Duncan

WILLIAM E. “BILL” DUNCAN, 75, of Springfield, passed away Sunday evening, July 23, 2017 following several months of failing health. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on September 6, 1941, the oldest child of J. Robert and Helen (Kline) Duncan.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1965. After a long career in property management, Bill retired in 2004. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and enjoyed spending time negotiating his latest vehicle purchase. He was a member of First Christian Church and a 50-year member of St. Andrew’s Lodge #619 F. & A.M.

Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beth E. (Curran) Duncan; two children, Amy (John) Homer of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky and Timothy W. (Jaylynn) Duncan of Okeana, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Homer and Garrett Duncan; a sister, Joan Whitehead of Pearl, Mississippi; a brother, Paul Duncan of Springfield; a half-brother, John Duncan of Sun City, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene K. Duncan.

A service in celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in First Christian Church with David Augustus officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
