Obituary for Sylvia M. Peterson

Sylvia M. (Hypes) Peterson, 91, of Lenoir City (Jellico Village), Tennessee, formerly of Springfield, passed away Sunday June 4, 2017 at Parkwest Medical Center. Sylvia was born July 11, 1925 in Bluefield, West Virginia, the daughter of Luther and Gertrude (Doyle) Hypes. She attended Maiden Lane Church of God for many years with her husband. She is survived by her two daughters; Judith Haley of South Pasadena, Florida and Linda (John) Helling of Louden, TN; four grandchildren, Greg Lindstrom, Doug Lindstrom, Lori Lindstrom and Amy (Clark) Davis; eleven great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Kristy, Allen, Taylor, Matthew Cooke, Kaitlin Cooke, Spencer Cooke, Gabriella Varvaro, Steven Varvaro, Renee Barnum and Briley Davis; one great-great-grandchild, Gavin; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James L. Peterson; son, James R. Peterson; grandson, Stephen Lindstrom; brother, Hershel Hypes and sister, Nellie Schmenk. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. Wednesday June 7, 2017 in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Fiorini officiating. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
