Obituary for Roger E. Maurer

Roger E. Maurer, 67, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017, in Hospice of Dayton. He was born on September 24, 1950, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of the late Paul F. and N. Jean (Riley) Maurer. Roger graduated in 1968 from Greenon High School/JVS. He retired in 1997 from Green Township as Road Superintendent. Prior to his work in the township, he farmed on the Allen Armstrong and Allen Shaw farms. Roger loved being outside and enjoyed camping with his family. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda (Collins) Maurer, one son, Lonnie (Sheila) Maurer, and daughter, Alethea Fraley; sister, Victoria M. Morgan, brother, John M. Maurer, four grandchildren: Ciera, DeAsia, Logan, and Alexis; and one great grandson, Malakai, and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jeremiah Fraley in 1998 and brother, Jim Maurer in 2007. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 21, from 5-8:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where a celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with Chaplain Mary Perry officiating. Burial will be in the Clifton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hustead EMS.
