Obituary for Nancy S. (Bergstrom) Kincaid

God called one of his sweetest children home on November 8, 2017.
Nancy was not herself these last few years but those who knew her will remember that she was a woman of many accomplishments.
Her parents, Hildred and Adolf Bergstrom came to Springfield from Detroit in 1940, when she was two years old. In addition to being a beautiful child she was a good student and good friend to many during her school days. She was a Junior High School Cheerleader and member of the National Honor Society at Springfield High School, Class of 1956. She was a Relay Queen and the youngest Job’s Daughters Honored Queen in Ohio in 1952. She also became the Job’s Daughters Secretary, while her own daughter participated and was also Honored Queen. She married James E. Kincaid Sr. in September 1956 and began three years as an Air Force wife.
During this time, she began college at the University of Illinois and later at Wittenberg. She had two children who survive her: Dr. Cynthia Lynn (Tom) Fenske of Ann Arbor, MI and James E. (Amanda) Kincaid Jr. of Springfield. As they grew, Nancy taught Sunday School and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.
She was a member of Junior Service League and served as President in 1971. She later became a member of the Young Women’s Mission. She loved working in the Nearly New Shop, the Charity Ball, and the Bargain Big Top.
With her children in school, she began working with her husband at Kincaid’s is Music and was the head bookkeeper the next 30 years and was the President the last six years, until the company was sold in 2006.
She was a Sunday School teacher, Choir member and Trustee during her years at Covenant Presbyterian Church. At Grace Lutheran Church, she was a member of the bell choir, and served as a Teller, Usher and a member of the Endowment Committee.
She celebrated 61 years of marriage, loved her husband, children, her grandchildren; Eryn Leigh Fenske (Jordan) Aubey, Jennifer Ellen Kincaid (Riley) Schlub and T.J. (Terri) Fenske, two great grandchildren, Dylan and Ethan Aubey. Truly she loved all children. A sister, Doris Bergstrom, preceded her in death.
Gone to be with Jesus, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Many thanks to her Grace Church family, Dr. Dudney and caregivers, Debbie, Taysha, Christina, Trish, Kim, Ashley and the nursing staff at Oakwood Village.
Services will be held Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, 1801 St. Paris Pike, with Pastor Daniel M. Powell presiding. Visitation with family and friends will be at 10:00 a.m. with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
