Obituary for Mary Alice Shellman

MARY ALICE (THREATS) SHELLMAN, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday morning, February 24, 2018. She was born in Dunbar, West Virginia on February 17, 1935, the daughter of the late Charles Threats and Alice Mae (Jelks) Applin.

Mary was a Christian and loved going to church until she was unable to attend. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and listening to Gospel music.

She leaves to mourn her passing four sons, Danny Eugene Threats, James David Threats, Timothy Shellman, and William Lee Shellman II; ten grandchildren, including, LaRonda Smoot-Tawiah who cared for Mary during her illness; many great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; a host of nieces and nephews including a special niece, Ah’danna Guy-Pace; and a special dear friend, Lara Jones. She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Threats; two sisters, Mattie Applin and Josephine Parks; and two brothers, Bishop Samuel Threats and Freddie Threats.

Mary’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Restored Life Ministries. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
