Obituary for Juanita D. Harmon

JUANITA D. HARMON, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, November 29, 2017 at the Springfield Masonic Community. She was born in McAndrews, Kentucky on March 11, 1934, the daughter of the late Berry and Louise (Darden) Echols. Juanita was raised by her paternal grandmother, Emma Jackson. She was a member of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters and spouses, Deborrah Borden of Atlanta, Georgia, Alvita (Victor) Smoot of Springfield, Roxanne (Paul) Farrier of Troy; ten grandchildren, Eris, Kailehia, Sundi, Antwan, Sarah, Abram, Reuben, Jessica, Bethany, and Alison; and 21 great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, James (Beverly) Cousar; and several special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Rev. Alvin Harmon Jr. in 2011.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 am-1:00 pm Tuesday in St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Juanita’s homegoing service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Ernest C. Brown presiding. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
