Obituary for Jean Marie (Vorhis) Devers

Jean Marie (Vorhis) Devers, 95, passed into eternal life with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in Madison, Alabama. She was born June 30, 1922 in Springfield, the daughter of the late Alfred C. and Ruth (Clingman) Vorhis.

She graduated from Springfield South High School and retired from Conrail in 1984 after 23 yrs. of service. Jean was a member of Southgate Baptist Church and she enjoyed her family, quilting, sewing, painting, and gardening.

Survivors include a brother, James Vorhis (Pat) of Denton, Texas; daughter, Christa Felis (Robert) of Madison, Alabama and son, James Devers (Peggy) of Loudon, Tennessee; 2 granddaughters, Anna Felis and Meghann Devers Marion; grandson, David Felis; great-grandson, J.J. Marion; step-grandson, Jeff Rockfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 yrs., Roger Elwood Devers; a son, Tommy; a sister, Marjorie Laybourne (Harry); a granddaughter, Meredith Devers Kreitzer; and a nephew, Mark Laybourne.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 1-2 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Funeral services will begin at 2 pm in the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
