Obituary for Jane E. Phillips

JANE E. PHILLIPS, 87, of Springfield, passed away at the Springfield Masonic Community on Thursday afternoon, October 5, 2017. She was born in Xenia, Ohio on February 27, 1930, the daughter of the late Glen and Blanche (Bickett) Rector. Jane earned her B.A. in Home Economics from The Ohio State University and her Masters in Education from Miami University. She taught Home Economics at Beavercreek High School and later hotel food management at Clark County J.V.S. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and the President’s Club at Ohio State.

Survivors include two children, Roger Sweet and Alicia (Greg) Hupp, both of Springfield; two grandchildren, Hannah Hupp and Regan Sweet; sisters-in-law, Ruby Rector of Xenia and Vicki Rector of Cedarville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Phillips; a son, Alan Sweet and two brothers, Charles and Glen “Smokey” Rector.

Jane’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Rev. Raymond Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
