Obituary for Ethel Alberta Reeder

Ethel Alberta Reeder retired to Heaven’s beautiful estates on Thursday, July 6, 2017 after 95 years of service to others. Born in Orient, Ohio, on January 8, 1922, Alberta served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and adult booster for Hayward Junior High Concessions. She also worked for Clark and Ontario retail stores in her adult life, and in later years she served in Home Health Care often assisting seniors much younger than herself. Alberta or “Miss Ethel” preferred activity over retirement. The final months of her life, she was resident at Springfield Assisted Living. Her husband, Ross, preceded her in death in 1985.

Alberta is survived by two sons: Phil, of Dyer, Indiana; and Reverend Thomas, of Cincinnati, Ohio. She has three grandchildren, Phillip “Jason”, of Valparaiso, Indiana; Brian, of Chesterton, Indiana; and Kirsten, of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is proud great-grandmother to eleven great-grandchildren and hundreds of additional family members and loving friends – some in Heaven rejoicing at her homecoming, and others still earthbound.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 3-5 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of Ethel’s life will be held on Monday at 11 am in the Victory Baptist Church 2691 W. Possum Road with Pastor Dan Quinn and Pastor Dan Stinger presiding. Entombment will follow in the Rose Hill Mausoleum.
