Obituary for Emerson L. Scroggy

EMERSON L. SCROGGY, 91, of Springfield went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born January 18, 1926 in Wilmington, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Ocie (Snow) Scroggy.

He graduated from Springfield South High School, attended Springfield Business College and graduated from University of Wisconsin School of Banking. Emerson was a veteran of the United States Navy and served our country proudly during World War II. He retired as Vice President from National City Bank with 45 years of service and 22 years as a Realtor with Link-Hellmuth Realty. Emerson was a past member of Mitchell Hills Club and Northwood Hills Country Club. He was past President of Kiwanis Club, served on the hospital board, Springfield Neighbor Housing Board and City of Springfield Recreation Commission.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Patricia A. (Reynolds) Scroggy; three daughters, Anne Walston-Muir (John), Susan Schaffner (Mark) and Barbara Wood (Tony); seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 10-11:30 a.m. in the First Christian Church, 3638 Middle Urbana Rd. A celebration of Emerson’s life will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the church with Pastor Dave Augustus officiating and military honors to follow.

Inurnment will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
