Obituary for Barry A. Garrett

BARRY A. GARRETT, 76, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 12, 2018, following several months of failing health. He was born in Springfield on May 11, 1942, the son of the late Floyd C. and Rachael L (Wilke) Garrett.

Barry retired from Navistar following 38.7 years of service. He was a member of First Christian Church where he was active in the GSOC ministry and Anthony Lodge F. & A.M. He volunteered with Lifeline Christian Ministries and Honor Flight.

Barry is survived by a son, Bryan “Spud” (Heather) Garrett of Springfield; granddaughter, Brooke-Lyn Garrett; great granddaughter, Myla Lyn Garrett; very special friend, Mary Binegar; niece and nephew, Lesley (David) Whited and Greg (Susan) Garrett; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Craig Allen Garrett; his twin sister, Nancy Helen Garrett; and two brothers, David and Jan Lee Garrett.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday in First Christian Church. Barry’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the church with David Augustus officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lifeline Christian Ministries, for the benefit of Emmanuel and Ruth Adam, 921 Eastwind Dr., Suite 104, Westerville, OH 43081.
