Obituary for Anita J. Stobbs

Anita J. Stobbs, 93, of Springfield, died May 14, 2017 in Springfield. She was born May 12, 1924, in Madison County, Ohio, daughter of Clement and Mary Pauline Rapp Simmermon.

She was a member of Northridge Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Bloomingburg High School, Bloomingburg, Ohio, attended Ohio State University and was a graduate of Wright State University with a B.S. in accounting, summa cum laude. She worked as an accountant for the Drug Control Council and J.C. Woodford Assoc. She was a former member and past president of the Springfield Club, belonged to several bridge groups and quilting guilds, and did volunteer work at Lincoln School and the food pantry. She enjoyed line dancing for several years at the Outback in Urbana and Terry's classes at the YMCA.

She is survived by her three children: Gregory (Beth) Stobbs, Bloomfield Hills, MI, Kathryn Stobbs, Xenia, OH and Leslie (Paul) Buchanan, Springfield OH; two grandchildren: Grant and Laura Buchanan; her brothers: William (Freda) Simmermon and Joseph (Sherri) Mettle; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 58 years, Hugh, in 2006.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17th in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Ken Woode officiating.

Burial will be at South Solon Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or charity of the donor's choice.
